What We Believe
As a church committed to outreach and to building a strong community life, Delta takes its cue from the Bible and particularly three famous passages from the Gospels. In the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10), Jesus instructed us to show our love of God and each other by reaching out to those in need. Another time, Jesus taught his disciples that on the judgment day God will divide “the nations” into two groups, the sheep and the goats (Matthew 25). The sheep are those who live according to God’s will by feeding the hungry, welcoming the stranger, clothing the naked, caring for the sick, and visiting prisoners. After the Resurrection, he further instructed the disciples to take his story to the whole world and baptize those who chose to become his followers (Matthew 28).
These passages have special meaning for us; we believe that God has called us as a church to be good Samaritans, to serve those in need, and to share in spreading the fantastic news about God’s love in Christ.
Our mission statement, adopted in 2009, is as follows: Delta Presbyterian Church is a community of Christians committed to serving God through celebrating God's love in worship; studying God's Word; searching for God's truth and guidance; caring for each other in times of need, sorrow, and joy; and, serving others to reflect Christ's example.
